Seamless Setups and Epic Miles: Our PNW Adventures' RTT Mount Success Story

Posted 8 June 2024 by Vanultra

At Vanultra, nothing excites us more than hearing how our products help adventurers tackle the great outdoors with ease. Recently, we had the pleasure of meeting Brian and Marisa, the adventurous couple behind the YouTube channel "Our PNW Adventures," at Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Arizona. Their story is one of spontaneity, problem-solving, and the relentless pursuit of adventure—and we’re thrilled to have played a part in it.

A Chance Encounter That Changed Everything

Brian and Marisa are from the lush landscapes of Southwest Washington State and are the type of couple who live for the thrill of exploration. Whether they’re hiking remote trails, setting up camp in the middle of nowhere, or jetting off to far-flung destinations, they’re always on the move, documenting their journeys to help fellow adventurers spend less time planning and more time enjoying the ride.

While strolling through the maze of vendors at Overland Expo West, they weren’t planning to stop by our booth—until something caught their eye. Our sign boldly proclaimed, "Make Your Rooftop Tent Transfer Easier," and that was all it took. Anyone who’s ever wrestled with mounting or unmounting a rooftop tent knows the struggle, and Brian and Marisa were no exception.

Five minutes into a conversation with Trevor, the founder of Vanultra, they knew they’d found the solution they’d been searching for: our RTT quick release mounts. Designed to make transitioning between camper and daily driver a breeze, these mounts promised to take the hassle out of their adventure prep—and they were eager to give them a try on their Freespirit Evo 1 tent and new Lobo Adventure Trailer.

Installation Adventures: A Few Hiccups, But a Lot of Learning

After the expo, Trevor met with Brian and Marisa to help install a set of quick release roof top tent mounts onto their newly aquired trailer setup. Installation, as with any new gear, had its moments of trial and error. They hit a snag with their oversized awning brackets, which required some creative adjustments. But that’s all part of the adventure, right? Luckily, Nate and Trevor were right there to lend a hand, ensuring the tent was securely in place.

What they loved most was how adjustable the RTT quick release mounting hardware turned out to be. The ability to adapt to the oversized 4 inch wide by 2 inch thick crossbars weren’t an issue for Vanultra. In no time, they had their tent mounted on their new Lobo Adventure Trailer, ready for the road ahead.

Hitting the Road: A Test of Durability and Performance

With their tent securely mounted, Brian and Marisa set off on a 1,000+ mile journey back home to the Pacific Northwest. This wasn’t just any road trip—it was the ultimate test of our roof top tent brackets, as they drove through a mix of busy freeways and rugged dirt roads. Night after night, they slept soundly atop their trailer, confident in the security and stability of their setup.

And the verdict? Vanultra’s RTT quick release mounts passed with flying colors. The ease of use, durability, and performance left Brian and Marisa more than impressed. What started as a spontaneous decision at Overland Expo West turned into one of the best gear investments they’ve made.
